A group of Awami League men in Pabna today (September 24, 2022) locked into a clash during a reception programme organised to honour Pabna-1 lawmaker Shamsul Haque Tuku for being elected as the new deputy speaker in parliament.

They clashed over taking possession in the meeting ground while throwing chairs at each other at the venue and adjacent areas, reports our local correspondent.

"Some youths had begun clash over standing in the back side of the meeting ground. When the matter came to the notice of the senior leaders, they rushed to the spot and take the situation under control," Advocate Abdul Ahad Babu, AL office secretary told The Daily Star, adding that there was no problem with holding the programme.

Officer in charge of Pabna Sadar Police Station Md Aminul Islam said police kept tight security at the venue.

Pabna district unit AL organised the reception at the freedom fighter Rafikul Islam Bokul Chattar.
